Here are the questions we will start to send to our councillors next week. This is being done in an open and transparent way.
There are 21 councillors and in a list from the Knysna municipality their names are listed alphabetically, so we will follow the names in this order.
We expect you as our readers to tip us off to important stuff we might otherwise not know about. We expect you to participate, and share your wisdom and insight with us and with other readers. If you choose to do that – and this is where you need to take some time to consider the consequences – then we expect you to do so using your real name. Anonymity does not breed thoughtful, civilised debate.
Feel free to add questions to this list should you feel it is lacking anything important.
Every week we will publish your comments after hearing what your councillor has to say, if you want to comment.
Councillors, we really look forward to getting to know you all better.
Full name, your ward, and which political party do you belong to.
How long have you been in Knysna?
What are your qualifications?
What is your salary?
Why did you decide to stand as a councillor?
What do your duties entail?
Explain the difference between the functions of a ward councillor and a PR councillor?
What are burning issues in your ward that need attention?
What are you proud of in your ward?
Where would you like to see improvement?
You were elected to office in August 2016 – what have you done for your town and its people since then?
What do you hope to accomplish for the rest of your term?
Do you think you are making a difference and if so, how?
What do the town and its people mean to you?
What is your opinion of the manner in which the ruling party is leading this town?
Just for fun, what is your favourite book, favourite food and if you could travel anywhere right now, where would you go?
